Lochinvar® Corporation is proud to announce that all Lochinvar Fan Assisted Copper Tube Products have received certification from the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) regarding NOx emissions, titled Rule 1146.2 Administrative Certification Program. According to the South Coast AQMD web site (www.aqmd.gov), the purpose of Rule 1146.2 is to “reduce NOx emissions from natural gas-fired large (commercial) water heaters, small (industrial) boilers, and process heaters.” The rule states that all water heaters and boilers sold in the South Coast district must produce less than 30 ppm of NOx emissions according to the following schedule: -January 1, 2000 – all units with a rated heat input between 400,000 and 2,000,000 BTU/Hr -January 1, 2001 – all units with a rated heat input between 75,000 and 400,000 BTU/Hr Failure to comply with the rule could result in penalty charges of up to $50,000 per day per violation. Lochinvar is the first manufacturer in the industry to obtain certification from an independent testing laboratory stating that all Lochinvar Fan Assisted Copper Products meet or exceed the requirements of this rule, which is less than 30 ppm NOx emissions.
