The Efficiency+ boiler can only be vented horizontally with Category I vent material if an induced draft fan is used to provide a negative draft in the horizontal vent system. If a horizontal vent is installed without an induced draft fan it requires the use of a Category IV vent system. This type of direct vent system must also use a separate pipe to supply combustion air to the unit and both the flue and air inlet must be installed to exit in the same pressure zone.
Yes, the Efficiency+ can be installed outdoors with a Lochinvar supplied vent kit.
The Efficiency+ has four venting options: Conventional Negative Draft,
E+ Vent, Direct Vent Horizontal, and Direct Vent Vertical. When venting conventionally,
the Efficiency+ must use Type B double wall vent material. Direct vent systems have
specific vent kits and material requirements. Please see the Efficiency+ Installation
and Service Manual for more information.
The Efficiency+ has 4 venting options. Conventional Negative Draft,
E+ Vent, Direct Vent Horizontal and Direct Vent Vertical. There are many
factors that play a role in determining the distance the Efficiency+ can be vented.
Please see the proper vent tables for more information on conventional venting and the
Efficiency+ Installation and Service Manual for limitations on the optional venting systems.
No. Lochinvar does not supply field conversion kits with any of its products because of the possible dangers that could occur if the conversion was not done properly. Conversions may only be performed by factory authorized personnel.
Yes, the Efficiency+ may be ordered orificed for operation on either Natural gas or LP gas.
The Efficiency+ is wired for 120 volts and must be electrically grounded in accordance with local codes, or in the absence of local codes, with the latest edition of the National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA.
Yes, the Efficiency+ can operate at 180°F when functioning as a boiler and as a water heater. An Efficiency+ operated to supply 180°F water should be ordered as a hot water supply boiler, which is supplied with a pressure only relief valve. Water Heaters are supplied with a temperature and pressure relief valve and ordering a unit intended for use at 180°F will cause nuisance opening of the relief valve. CAUTION: Water temperatures over 125°F can cause severe scald burns instantly.
An Efficiency+ is equipped with an adjustable immersion thermostat and a fixed setting immersion high limit.
Yes, the Efficiency+ comes equipped with a 24V terminal strip located on the control panel. A set of dry switching contacts may be connected across the R1-W1and R2-W2 terminals to remotely turn each stage on and off. Additional safety controls can be connected to the X and B contacts on the terminal strip.
Yes, the Efficiency+ is approved for installation on a combustible wood floor. CAUTION: do not install over carpet.
The heat exchanger is covered under warranty for 10 years on boilers and 5 years on water heaters. Please see the actual warranty for more detail.
Yes, the Efficiency+ water heater comes standard with a 150# temperature/pressure relief valve, and the Efficiency+ boiler comes standard with a 50# pressure relief valve.
The Efficiency+ biases the gas valve by applying air pressure from the combustion air fan to the gas pressure regulator. This air pressure is added to the preset spring setting of the gas pressure regulator to achieve the manifold pressure. This allows any variation in the combustion air fan pressures (voltage, wind, flue blockage, etc..) to automatically vary the gas pressure to the burners. Biasing the gas valve regulator insures good combustion and prevents nuisance operation problems due to job site related variables.
Manifold pressure on an Efficiency+ is set at 1.8 inches of water column for Natural gas and 4.6 inches of water column for LP gas. This pressure set by the regulator spring adjustment must be added to the air pressure generated by the combustion air fan to yield the operating manifold gas pressure. See the Gas Manifold Pressure Adjustment Procedure in the Efficiency+ Installation and Service Manual for the serviceman's procedure to set the manifold pressure.
