LOCHINVAR® TO BE FEATURED ON NATIONAL TELEVISION SHOW
KNIGHT® Heating Boiler Makes Appearance in Upcoming Episode of "This Old House"
The industry's most advanced residential condensing heating boiler, the KNIGHT® Heating Boiler from Lochinvar® Corporation, will make its national television debut on an upcoming episode of "This Old House." The episode, which is scheduled to air for the first time on Thursday, March 12th, documents a portion of the renovation of a neglected 1904 Renaissance Revival brownstone in Brooklyn, NY and includes the redesign of the home's boiler room. To determine the air date and local listings in various regions of the country, interested viewers can visit www.pbs.org and search episode #2824.
Throughout this season, the show's experts are converting a 104-year-old rowhouse in Brooklyn's historic Prospect Heights neighborhood from a nine-room boarding house to a three-family home, while preserving and restoring period detail wherever possible. In this particular episode, they choose to install two KNIGHT Boilers to efficiently provide heat for the home's cast iron radiators, radiant floor heating and domestic hot water. In addition to its ability to keep heating costs to an absolute minimum, the KNIGHT is also an ideal choice for this project as it features 5:1 turndown, allowing the boiler to generate the precise amount of heat for consistent indoor comfort based on the outdoor temperature.
"All of us at Lochinvar are very excited that the KNIGHT was chosen to be part of this renovation project on 'This Old House,'" stated Jeff Vallett, executive vice president for Lochinvar. "With its innovative design and unparalleled energy efficiency, the KNIGHT is a perfect fit for a show that features high quality craftsmanship and the latest in technology – and we couldn't be more thrilled that their home improvement experts agree."
With up to 98 percent efficiency, the Energy Star-qualified KNIGHT Heating Boiler can literally cut heating costs in half. Engineered with Lochinvar's exclusive SMART SYSTEM™ control, the KNIGHT offers unequalled control and monitoring functions that are easy to understand and use. The two-line, 16-character LCD display uses words instead of potentially confusing codes to communicate with the technician. In addition, the SMART SYSTEM includes a built-in cascading sequencer for the installation of up to eight boilers.
With seven floor-standing models and five wall-mount units, Lochinvar offers the industry's broadest selection of fully modulating, condensing heating boilers. The sealed-combustion direct-vent design of the KNIGHT offers unmatched flexibility for placement within a building, permitting air intake and exhaust runs up to 100 equivalent feet using PVC or CPVC pipe.
The Emmy Award winning "This Old House" is television's premier home improvement series. Celebrating its 31st season on PBS this year, the show's mission is to demystify the home improvement process and to celebrate the fusion of old world craftsmanship and modern technology. Each season features two renovation projects, one of which is filmed in Massachusetts while the second project is taped in a different region of the country to highlight the variety of American architectural styles and renovation issues. New episodes of "This Old House" are broadcast exclusively on PBS, while older episodes air on syndication channels.
