Lochinvar Corp., a leading manufacturer of high-efficiency water heaters, boilers and pool heaters, recently sent a substantial shipment of holiday gifts and decorations to members of the National Guard's F-Troop, stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan. This is the third donation Lochinvar has shipped to the Troop since their Manufacturing Engineer Manager, Bill Jacobs, was deployed in February 2006.

Since the officers and soldiers cannot be home for the holidays this year, Lochinvar sent 850 pounds of holiday cheer to them. The gifts included 200 stuffed animals for the Medevac Unit to distribute to children, calling cards to help the Troop keep in touch with family and friends throughout the holidays, a large assortment of DVDs and books, and homemade cookies and candy. To help the Troop deck their halls, Lochinvar also sent a Christmas tree and holiday decorations.

"All of the men and women of the F-Troop greatly appreciate the tremendous support that Lochinvar has shown us throughout the past 10 months in Kandahar," said Sergeant First Class Jacobs. "The generous holiday donation continues to lift our spirits and makes it easier to be so far from home this time of year."

After the first shipment Lochinvar sent, the Troop wrote letters thanking the company and requesting additional items for the next donation. In addition to various food items, such as cheese, mustard and popcorn, one soldier requested dirt and grass seed in hopes of growing a patch to remind him of home. In addition, the shipment also included three swimming pools to help the Troop keep cool in Kandahar's high temperatures. The subsequent letters thanked the company for the new backyard treats and included photos of the soldiers escaping the heat in the pools and hanging out on their newly grown grass. The F-Troop is expected to return home to the U.S. in February 2007.
